Kabobs

Tough loss in hockey for Russia. The streets cleared pretty fast. Canada won its hockey game but seemed a closer game than it should have been. After speed skating and a few refreshments at Canada House. Mike and I took a train to Olympic Village stn then walked a detour around the athletes village passed the cruise ships one of which is Mik and his floating hotel along the Black Sea strand to a Kabob restaurant. Mike's motivational walk was a carrot on a stick, "just around the corner, just over there, oh the next corner'. with a few hesitations I began to wonder if we would end up to SOCHI proper. I think one of the desidong factors in our restaurant of choice was the need for a beer release break. It was just warm enough to sit outside and we ordered off the outside grill. Skewers of meat and potatoes slow roasted over an open pit of coals. Beef pork chicken (not check in), potatoes firm or darkly browed, picked onion and tomatoes and fresh veggies. Order what you want and it is weighed for payment. Oh and a cold beer by the mug. I went for meat and potatoes dressed with onion on pita. Some things taste even better when eaten outside. worth the walk there... We found another small restaurant to watch the last two periods of Canada vs Latvia. One Russia gent stressed that Latvia is "Little Russia" the Russians cheered for Latvia but after there loss said they now cheer for Canada in the semis. After walking the guys back to their ship I power walked the few K back to the SOCHI train then caught a bus from SOCHI to my hotel. Hit the Sack at 2AM then up at 4:40 this morning to go back to the oval. Pooped.   Lost in Translation.
